Christmas Time
Let's get ready for the holiday season, and mark your calender for these important dates.

Christmas Parties
The date for this years Christmas party will be on Thursday December 17th . We will have treats, a gift exchange and play Christmas games. I ask that each dancers bring in a small gift of $5 or less, please, for the end of party exchange. If you would like to bring in a treat you may do so but it is not necessary. I am aware that our big parties have been something that all dancers look forward to as do I, so I could not go without spending time with my dancers before our Christmas break.

Watching Week #2
Watching week #2 will be the week of Monday January 11th. through Saturday January 16th . This is an important week for the dancers as they get to show you all of the new steps they have been working on during the 2nd. quarter. I ask that there be no more than 4 observers per student. We will not be having a fun week the week after the time. All class will get busy working on their recital dances.

Winter Closings
With the winter season upon us please be aware that the studio may close due to bad weather conditions. Please do not bring the dancers to the studio if you are unsure, find out if we will be closing by checking the studio web site at ww.saadance.com, or go to Channel 5 or 9 web page and/or check your answering machine for a message from Shannon. Also please make sure all dancers are wearing a coat to the studio I have lots of dancers who feel it is too hot to wear after class and come in without one at all (not a good idea big girls). Dancers may wear a sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt in class only during the winter months.

The Nutcracker 2009
Our rehearsal Saturday was a big success. Thank you all for getting the dancers to the studio on a Saturday afternoon during the busiest time of the year. I do believe all the dancers enjoyed being at the studio all together almost 80 dancers to be exact. Wow. Bravo to all .
Now let's take a look at the schedule for "The Nutcracker" On Saturday December 19th

Rehearsal 10:00-12:00
You can arrive between 9:30-10:00 to be ready to dance at 10:00

Break 12:00-1:45
Use this time to eat, get make-up on and get dressed and ready by 1:45

Show 2:00- 3:30
The show will be about 1 hour and 20 minute with at 10 minute intermission for costume changes

I know this seems like a long day, as in the past we have always done it this way and it always turns out fine. Parents you are welcome to stay the entire time, this way if the children are done early you will be there for them. All dancers are to come wearing their performance tights which for most are tan, if you need to get them please fill out an order form and get it to me by Thursday evening by 8:30 and I will order them for you on Friday. No late orders will be taken. Also all dancers are to have their hair up in a bun. If your hair is short use lots of hair spay and gel and do the best you can. We are performing a ballet. All are to wear make-up under the lights it is a must. (Eyes, lips and cheeks).

When coming to Scott High School (Directions HERE - UPDATED! use the side stage entrance on the lower level (in the back parking lot) which is located to the left of the gym and pool main entrance. This door leads you directly into the auditorium and band room where the dancers will change. For those of you who are new to the studio I will be glad to explain the door location.

During the break the dancers are able to stay and eat here at the school just pack a lunch and a snack for them, or if they leave you need to check out with Miss Shannon, Miss Natalie, Miss Courtney or Miss Amy so we know they are with you. Just make sure all are back and ready by 1:45 for the 2:00 show.

This is a very exciting event for Miss Shannon. It has been a long time since we have performed the ballet and to have the whole studio involved is quite a treat, I hope that all of you enjoy this as much as I have. If you have any questions before the big day you can talk to me or email me @ missshannon@saadance.com and I will get back with you right away.

Sincerely, Miss Shannon and the S.A.A.Dance staff
