What’s Going On Around the Studio?

It’s that time of year when we start preparing for our annual end of the year show. The year’s theme is “Music Makes Me Dance”. This is a very exciting time for the teachers, demonstrators, and dancers. Things to look for: Opening and Family Number Sign-Ups, Room Mom Sign-Ups, Studio Closings, Winter Safety, and our Spring Fund Raiser.

Extra Sign-Ups

Extra number sign-ups are going on now in the studio waiting room. The Opening Number will be a fun type of dance with props, and a black light it’s called “Blackout”, and the Family Number has not yet been decided, but is always a fun dance, open to all ages. Below is a list of fees that are required to participate in these numbers.

Room Moms

Room Moms Wanted.
We are in need of Room Moms for each class to help with this year’s show. If you are interested, please ask Shannon for a copy of the Room Mom duties so you can decide if you would be willing to help out back stage at this year’s show and with making some phone calls to your class parents to relay important information. All Room Moms involved are an extremely important part of the recital’s success. Sign up now.

Winter Time

Winter is a long, cold season which brings a lot of surprises our way. In the case of bad weather, and there could be a possibility the studio could be closed, there are several ways to check: Log onto the studio website at http://www.saadance.com, tune into Channel 9 or 5 for the SAADance studio name and its closing status, check your email for studio closing information, check your answering machine for a message from Miss Shannon. I will call each family if it is early enough (if you have an alternative number that I should call first, please get that number to me ASAP). This way, you will not make a trip to the studio in bad weather. Miss Shannon chooses safety first when it comes to our children. Also, please take caution when bringing dancers across the studio parking lot. When we have bad weather, the parking lot can be quite slippery.

Other issues of concern during the long, cold winter season are: Illness is always an issue in the winter. If your child has had a fever, diarrhea, a rash or severe cough, it would be in the dancers’ best interest to keep them home. When at the studio, the dancers are quite active, which means they are sweating and opening up their pores and this could lead to getting other dancers sick as well as picking up other illnesses themselves.

Also, this year we have had a lot of dancers coming and going from the studio in very little to wear; such as no coats, uncovered legs in tights, and only a leotard without a shirt to cover up in. If you, as parents, could stress to your children that it is important to cover up when coming to the studio in the winter so that when they leave all hot and sweaty, they will pose less risk of getting sick. I know sometimes it is hard to stress, but please do your best. I have sent several dancers out with a borrowed coat. Also, if it is extremely cold outside, it is hard to keep the studio warm with such high ceilings, so send your dancers in with a sweatshirt or t-shirt to wear during class. Your teachers will not make them take them off if they feel it is too cold.

Please check the lost and found ever so often to check for things your dancers have lost. It seems as though the lost and found fills up pretty quickly in the winter time.

Thank you, and everyone stay healthy and warm in this long and cold winter season that is upon us.

2. Buckeye Light Candles (8 oz.) with over 100 scents. Price is $6 with a 50% profit.
3. Spring Hill Flowers. Prices range from $12 - $35 with a 50% profit.
4. Candy Bar Fund Raiser. Price $1 with a 40% profit.
5. Fudgie Wudgie Belgium Chocolate Fudge. 1 lb. $16 with a 40% profit.

Let me know which fund raisers you would be interested in selling. I will let all know once I receive some feedback from you. The choice is yours. Just let me know, who knows? Maybe we will choose 2 different ones.

Have A Great Day, Miss Shannon!
