Dance Stars New Season

So far, we have had a great year to start to a new dance season. Summer classes went well and the dancers seem to be excited about the dances we will be competing with this year. Each year, the team grows closer and the dancers get better, so lets get ready to start an exciting and entertaining dance season.

2009-2010 Dance Stars Team

Lets take a look at this year’s dance team.

Our Senior Group: Jillean A. – Team Captain, Alicia H., Molly D., Krystine F., Catie M., Molly K., Megan K., Rachel K., Samantha R., Jena D., Liz L., and Amy F. dancing to Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”.
Teen Group: Sarah C., Gina E., Isabella M., Amity L., Kyndal C., Haley H. dancing to Annie Lennox “Sing”.
Junior Group: Emma B., Marinda B., Abbie M., Allison C. dancing to Cyndi Lauper “Give it Up”.
Young Junior Group: Alyssa B., Megan S., Kattiana M., Kennedy F., Madeline B., Sara R. dancing to Aretha Franklin “Think”
The Team Group will be dancing to Pearl Jam “Jeremy” as well as some solos, duos, and other groups.

We have a great group of dancers. As always, I wish the team good luck and to have the best season yet.

Friday Schedule

During the dance year, all team rehearsals will be on Friday. We will be following the Thursday times the dancers had this summer. They are as follows:

5:00-5:30 "Proud Mary" Senior Group
5:30-6:00 "Sing" Teen Group
6:00-7:00 "Jeremy" Team Group
7:00-7:30 "Give It Up" Junior Group
7:30-8:00 "Think" Young Junior Group

*All dancers who are doing extra numbers need to set up their rehearsal times with Shannon, Courtney, or Natalie. It is important that all dancers attend rehearsals during the dance season. This year, I will be keeping a close eye on the dancers and those dancers who are missing often will need to sit down and talk to Shannon and discuss the reason for all the absences and what needs to be done to be a Dance Star team player.

Team Fees

All dancers who are on team will have rehearsal fees, competition fees, costumes and uniform fees that are a part of being on team.

Rehearsal fees: Each dance that your dancer is competing with has a $7.50 a month rehearsal fee that needs to be paid with your monthly tuition fee. All dancers on team have two numbers that they are competing in so each dancer has a $15.00 a month team fee that needs to be paid each.

Competition Fees: We will be attending two competitions and each organization has their own set of fees for each dance. I will give you an estimated fee based on the competitions we attended last year, so each family can plan ahead for the competitions:

Solo Range: $85-$95
Duo & Trio Range: $85-$95 Divided by 2 = $42.50-$47.40 per person
Small Group Range: $35-$29 per person (Small groups are 4-8 dancers)
Large Group Range: $29-$27 per person (Large groups are 8-15 dancers)
Line Group Range: $27-$25 per dancer (Lines 14-19 dancers)
Productions Groups: $25-$22 per dancer (Productions 18+ dancers)

To estimate what your fees will be, take the number of dancers in each dance and multiply by two to estimate what your competition fees will be.

EXAMPLE: Megan has a small group fee of $35 and a Production Fee of $25 – Multiply by 2 = an estimated $120 for both competitions. To be on the safe side, I used the high side of the fees, so her fees may be a little less but not more. I will have the actual total once the second competition is decided.

Cathy Roe is a definite – the tentative date is March 20-22, 2010. I will keep looking for the second date when all competition dates are released. We will not travel. I am looking for the organizations that are coming to Cincinnati. When I have that settled, I will let all know ASAP.

Costume Fees: All will be decided soon, so we can get them ordered. I will try to keep these fees as low as possible.

Uniforms: I will have an order form available soon. Those who got a sweat suit last year will not need to order one, as we will be getting the same for the new dancers on team.

So dancers, your parents could use a little help with paying these fees. Miss Carey has been putting fund raisers together to help. Make sure you take advantage of these opportunities – every little bit helps.

Sincerely,

Miss Shannon
